How they met:

Lindsay and Mark met on January 18, 2013 on a blind date. Even though it was their first meeting, they talked for over five hours, until the restaurant closed. They have been inseparable since that day, and chose to get married exactly one year later, on January 18, 2014.

Why did you choose Estes Park for your wedding?

“I spent all of my summers growing up in Estes Park with my family, and have always considered it a second home. Now that we both live in Colorado full-time, Estes Park was a natural choice for our mountain wedding.”

What is your favorite memory of your Estes Park wedding?

“We were hoping for a clear, beautiful winter day in the mountains, and Estes Park did not disappoint! The weather was perfect, the sun was shining, and the snow-covered mountains were a perfect backdrop for our wedding pictures. Our favorite moment of the day was exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony in front of the fireplace, surrounded by our closest family and friends.”

Andy and I met through our mutual friends. They didn’t set us up, but he caught my eye at a few different gatherings of friends!

What is your favorite memory of your Estes Park wedding?

I don’t know if I have a fondest memory! I loved standing up in front of friends and family and feeling all the love for us in the room.  Picture taking in the snow was fun, the food and cake were great! My sisters did a hilarious dance toast and my dad’s toast was very touching. We danced a lot with great friends and family. I loved every minute!

How They Met:

Craig and I met online through a Catholic dating site.  Craig is a research grad student and spent most of his days in a basement working, which made it hard to meet people.  I lived in Wyoming where the odds of meeting a man were good, but the goods were also odd.  One day I expanded my search radius to 500 miles to find new people to chat with and Craig’s profile popped up.  He received a notification that I looked at his profile, and a few days later I had a message in my inbox.  Soon we were messaging back and forth, which turned into calling each other, which turned into driving 500 miles to see each other!  We dated for a year commuting 5.5 hours (one way) every weekend to see each other!  After a bad Wyoming winter, we decided to not risk our lives and to never drive the Wyoming freeways again.  Thus, I picked up my things in Wyoming, quit my job, and moved to Boulder, Colorado for a new beginning.  We then spent a year getting to know each other better in Boulder, where a 5 minute commute to see each other was MUCH more desirable.

Why did you choose Estes Park for your wedding?

Craig and I decided to get married in the Estes Park area because it continually steals our hearts away.  From the very beginning, our relationship was built on doing activities in and around Estes Park.  How can one NOT feel bounded to an area when you experience your first flash crack hike (or should I say run) down a mountain near Brainerd Lake?  Or discover you and your boyfriend have a shared love for high elevation climbs ad Rocky Mountain National Park?  And what about snowshoeing with your fiancé to Emerald Lake in the middle of a March snowstorm?  These moments are where we play, where we love, and why we live, is why we chose Estes Park for our wedding.  It is a part of us we can’t escape, nor ever want to leave.  And of course….there was a chapel…one of the biggest reasons we chose Estes Park stems back to one of our earliest conversations.  As we stepped into the chapel a rush of peace flooded through me.  In that moment of peace with the sunlight gleaming in, I knew I would be married in that chapel someday.  So I guess the answer boils down to  this…we didn’t choose Estes Park for our marriage…God chose Estes Park for us.

What is your favorite memory of your Estes Park Wedding?

What I’ll remember most about our Estes Park Wedding, was having all of our families together in the mountains for over a week.  My family is from Wisconsin, and Craig’s family is from California, so we were excited to bring them all to a place we loved.  Throughout the week, our relatives were able to explore Estes Park and take in all it had to offer.  Most came back from a day of adventuring refreshed and excited for the next day.  I was happy that our wedding week was able to give back to our guests in a way a normal wedding never could.  Our approach to this wedding celebration was never about Craig and I, but about how we could show our loved ones how good life can be.  We wanted them to feel peace, to forget about their worries, and to just be themselves.  No jobs, no anxiety, just family living the life God would want us to live.

How they met:

“We met when we were both quite young. Brian lived next to my dad and we started talking on our balconies to one another. Once we met we immediately became serious and have been together ever since. We got married shortly after our 6 year anniversary. We have been through ups and downs but instead of growing apart, we grew together. We are best friends and can tell each other anything which is such a great feeling. Neither one of us had ever been in love until we met each other so our marriage is special that way.” It was meant to be!

Why did you choose Estes Park for your wedding?

They decided a few months back that they wanted to get married soon and with a small ceremony. They found Wild Basin Lodge, who was one of the few that advertised for smaller weddings. They wanted the beauty of mountains with a lodge feel at a reasonable price. The River site left them envisioning their wedding which solidified their decision.
